LawSoc Annual Elections details!
Hi folks,
It’s that time of the year again; it is time for LawSoc’s annual elections!
If you wish to run for a position then you will need to have a manifesto submitted to me (matt.hainsworth@leedslawsoc.n
When all candidates have their manifestos submitted, we will then have the LawSoc Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 29th February at 5pm in LG06 in the Law School. This will be the time for all candidates to give a short speech (2 minutes only) on why they want to be on the committee, why they feel they would be good at that role and the qualities they have. This will be followed by a 2 minute round of questions. Presidential candidates will get 5 minutes to speak with a similar 5 minutes of questions (please note, that only those who have been on the committee before are eligible to run for President). All candidates must attend the AGM (or if there is a valid reason why they can’t, provide a video or speech for someone else to read) in order to be eligible for the vote.
Voting will then open on Friday 2nd March at 9am until Monday 5th March at 4pm – and like last year, voting will be done through the LUU website. Campaigning will be allowed all day on Friday 2nd March and Monday 5th March. All candidates MUST read the attached election booklet for the rules of campaigning. This year, the voting will be done by STV (Single Transferable Vote) for information on what STV is, please see the following link - http://
The winners will then be announced at the Easter Social at Tiger Tiger on Tuesday 6th March.
This year we have trimmed down the committee slightly so there will be 14 positions to run for as oppose to 17. All positions are detailed in the attached election handbook.
Any questions, please feel free to email me at matt.hainsworth@leedslawsoc.ne
Good luck to all those running!
